Malwarebyte’s Anti-Malware

The last time I installed and run a so-called malware scanner was really quite awhile ago. And one of the popular tool I rely on was Spybot’s Search & Destroy.

However, with most anti-virus software Norton AV, I have found such specific tool rather unnecessary. Or I would prefer to simplify the process and rely on as little tools as possible to make sure the PC is free from trojans, adware etc.

This is until I was reading a few articles and blogs and Malwarebyte’s name kept popping up a couple of times and I decided to download it and test it out.

I must comment that I was pretty impress with the overall performance of the software and the first run of the full scan found wakenet’s adware in the registry. After I remove the entry and restarted the notebook, the second scan gave the PC a clean bill of health.

The GUI is very clean and the download of the latest signature file was pretty much a breeze. Both are plus points when I compare this with Spybot. Besides, one comment I came across too, is, Malwarebyte is able to detect and remove those nasty bogus anti-virus software.
